The clocks haven't gone back yet, the great heating debate has definitely started, and the business world spent yesterday doing what it does best in autumn: stocking up for winter. Only instead of logs and soup, it was chips, talent, content and cash, piled up in quantities so enormous they've stopped sounding like money and started sounding like phone numbers. Everyone, it seems, is betting that bigger is safer. Bigger factories, bigger empires, bigger plans stretching years into the future. But for every company building a fortress, there was a reminder that the drawbridge is only as strong as its weakest password.
