πGood morning. Happy World Tourism Day! Somewhere in El Salvador, tourism ministers and hotel bosses are clinking glasses at the UN's annual get-together, hosted there for the first time, under a theme about AI redesigning travel. Fitting, really, because the way we plan trips has quietly changed: you now ask a chatbot for a three-day Lisbon itinerary before you've even found your passport. But the party has an awkward guest. Oil has spent the week loitering north of $100 a barrel, and anyone who's priced a flight lately knows exactly who picks up that tab. It's a neat snapshot of business right now: dazzling technology on one side, stubbornly expensive physical reality on the other, and a lot of people trying to work out which one wins. So pour a slow Sunday coffee and settle in. Yesterday had plenty to say about both.
