DBI Today: 50.0 (−2.0)

The story of the day came from a stretch of water barely 33 miles wide. Iran's Revolutionary Guard said the Strait of Hormuz — the narrow passage between Iran and Oman through which roughly a fifth of the world's oil sails every day — would stay effectively closed until Washington meets its demands, and a claimed Houthi strike on a Saudi refinery added fuel, literally, to the fire. The Daily Business Index eased to 50.0, down 2.0 points, as that energy anxiety collided with Wall Street quietly stepping back from Friday's record-breaking rally, even as Asian markets kept riding the wave of a weak US jobs report that traders still read as good news for interest rates.
