DBI Today: 52.2 (+1.1)

Wall Street woke up to a number it liked: America's producer price index — a measure of what businesses pay for goods before they reach store shelves — rose just 4.7% over the past year, cooler than the 5.5% economists expected, and a day after consumer inflation had already come in exactly on target. The S&P 500 celebrated by closing at a fresh record above 7,800, and the Nasdaq wasn't far behind. Today's DBI ticked up to 52.2, a small step further into positive territory. It's a story of a global economy that's still absorbing shocks — from Middle East shipping tension to a wobblier jobs market — without losing its footing.
