DBI Today: 47.7 (−3.2)

Today's Daily Business Index, our single 0–100 score for how the global business world is faring, fell to 47.7, down 3.2 points. The story was a chip stock selloff that swept from Tokyo to Wall Street, wiping out gains from Japan's rally the day before and dragging the Nasdaq lower with it. Layered on top: oil pushing back toward $90 a barrel after President Trump refused to extend a fragile US-Iran ceasefire, and government borrowing costs climbing to multi-decade highs in both the US and Europe. Individually, none of these was catastrophic. Together, they tipped a cautious market into a genuinely rough day.
