DBI Today: 51.0 (+3.0)

Wall Street's chip stocks — the companies that make the processors powering the artificial intelligence boom — clawed back some of last week's brutal losses on Monday, with names like Micron and SK Hynix jumping as investors decided the AI-spending panic had gone too far. That steadied nerves just enough to nudge the Daily Business Index, our daily 0-to-100 readout of global business health where 50 marks neutral, up to 51.0. It's a modest recovery, not a victory lap: oil pulled back from a weekend spike above $90 a barrel after fresh US-Iran clashes, Hong Kong's stock market rallied hard, and American shoppers are feeling noticeably more upbeat. Japan, though, wasn't even open to vote.
