Oil did the talking on Wednesday. Brent crude jumped to around $94 a barrel — its highest level in over a month — after the United States carried out an eleventh consecutive night of strikes against Iran, with the US Secretary of State warning that further action would follow if Tehran wasn't "serious about talks." The Daily Business Index, our daily 0-to-100 readout of global business health where 50 marks neutral, eased to 50.9. Stock markets barely blinked, but the machinery underneath — fuel costs, inflation expectations, and consumer confidence — all felt the ripple, just as investors turned their attention to the season's biggest earnings test yet: Alphabet and Tesla.
