DBI Today: 47.5 (−3.4)

Oil crossing $100 a barrel was the story investors couldn't ignore. Houthi militants claimed attacks on two Saudi tankers in the Red Sea, and the US carried out its eleventh straight night of strikes on Iran — pushing Brent crude to its highest level since May and rattling anyone who worries about fuel costs, shipping bills, or the next inflation report. The Daily Business Index, our daily 0-to-100 read on global business health where 50 is neutral, dropped to 47.5. Big Tech didn't help: Alphabet and Tesla both reported genuinely strong quarters, then watched their shares get sold off anyway, as investors decided the AI spending boom needs a rethink.
