DBI Today: 53.8 (+2.4)

Iran signalled over the weekend that it would stop striking back as long as the US kept its own pause in place — and oil markets reacted like someone had let the air out of a tyre, with crude tumbling over 7% in a single session. That's the kind of move that ripples through everything from freight bills to factory costs, and it's why today's Daily Business Index, our daily 0-to-100 read on global business health where 50 is neutral, jumped to 53.8. The rally wasn't universal, though — chipmakers sold off hard on both sides of the Atlantic, and Germany's businesses got quietly more confident even with the Middle East still simmering in the background.
