Oil just had its second brutal day in a row, and this time it wasn't really about supply — it was about the possibility that the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway that a fifth of the world's oil passes through, might stay open after all. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said a deal with Iran could land within days, and traders took him at his word. Today's Daily Business Index, our daily 0–100 reading of global business health where 50 marks neutral, rose to 55.8 from 54.5. Wall Street cheered hardest, hitting fresh record highs, but the rest of the world barely stirred — a reminder that not every part of the map is living the same story right now.
